About this event
As a continuation of our seasonal night sky introductions, the Observing Committee will be hosting an Introduction to the Spring Night Sky on Friday, April 25 from 8:30 to 10:30pm at the clubhouse observing field. Inclement weather make-up dates are set for Saturday, April 26, Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3. The event is intended for the beginner who needs to learn his/her way around the spring evening sky and the veteran backyard astronomer who has been inactive in recent years and needs a "brush-up." We'll begin in the clubhouse with a brief orientation session and then move outdoors to the observing field for a general overview of the major spring stars and constellations, to be followed by binocular and telescopic views of spring showpiece objects. Attendees should bring a clipboard and pencil and a red-filtered flashlight and be dressed for chilly spring evening conditions. Binoculars are optional, and we'll supply the telescopes. The series will conclude with an intro to the summer sky to be held in August.
